The Office of Religious and Spiritual Life is a key resource at RPI, focusing on religion, ethics, purpose, and spirituality. Key offerings include:

  • Tradition-specific and interfaith programming
  • Chaplain involvement in formal events
  • Fostering connections among students from diverse backgrounds
  • Promoting respectful dialogue to explore shared values and navigate differences
  • Helping students understand how their worldviews shape responses to local, national, and global events

Aligned with RPI’s mission of holistic education, we encourage reflection and compassion, empowering students to navigate the complexities of the 21st century. Open to all, we cultivate a welcoming, respectful space for everyone, regardless of faith or belief.

The Seven Vectors of RPI Religious & Spiritual Life

We accompany students throughout their transformative educational journey, offering support in various ways. From lending a listening ear to collaborating with student organizations, we ensure their spiritual and personal growth is nurtured and supported during their time with us.

We empower students to find their voice and inspire them to use it to positively impact others, especially those on the margins. When needed, we advocate for students, making sure their needs and concerns are heard and addressed.

We support students in finding their place within the broader RPI community, helping them develop a sense of belonging in a diverse and interconnected network of groups.

Religion is one of the few universal human experiences that transcends cultural boundaries. We encourage students to explore with curiosity and respect the diverse ways societies throughout history have sought to understand the cosmos, pursue truth, create meaning, and celebrate life.

By introducing students to the world's great religious traditions and thinkers, we guide them in wrestling with life's timeless questions, helping them develop their own ethical frameworks and uncover deeper meaning in human existence.

In today’s complex, globalized world, understanding diverse beliefs and perspectives is crucial. We empower students to explore how others perceive the world, engage in ethical reasoning, and celebrate various traditions, fostering greater empathy and insight.

We support students in working together to build more equitable communities, encouraging them to take action that promotes fairness and justice for all.
