City Station West Housing Update

The lease between the Institute and City Station West will expire this year after Commencement and will not be renewed. Current residents with Spring 2026 housing contracts will not be impacted. The move-out date for City Station West residents is May 9, 2026, at noon; graduating students may remain until May 16, 2026, following Commencement.

City Station West will continue to operate independently from RPI and lease primarily to RPI students. Juniors, seniors, and graduate students who have fulfilled their on-campus housing requirement may lease directly with City Station West as an off-campus option. However, City Station West will no longer be included in Student Living and Learning’s housing inventory or appear on RPI housing applications beginning with Summer and Fall 2026.

RPI will continue to maintain on-campus housing capacity to meet student needs. Based on current and projected enrollment, the Institute will be able to accommodate all first and second year students, and expects to be able to accommodate juniors, seniors, and co-term students who apply through the spring housing process. Juniors, seniors, and co-term students will be housed in Polytechnic Apartments, Stacwyck Apartments, and RAHPs B.

The on-campus housing application for the 2026–27 academic year will open April 2026, with additional details shared during the spring semester.

To assist with your housing selection, an Off-Campus Housing and Resources Fair will be held on February 4, 2026 from 3-5 p.m. at the Student Union (Sage Entrance Lobby). Students with questions may also contact Student Living and Learning at 518-276-6284 or reslife@rpi.edu.
