2026–30 Student Experience Strategic Plan

The Student Experience Strategic Plan is the roadmap to bringing the Vision, Mission, and Values of the Division of Student Experience to life. It details the collaborative efforts we are taking to achieve our vision of a campus ecosystem where students find belonging and success in designing their campus experience.

Our Five Pillars

We create spaces where every student can find belonging and thrive. By embracing inclusive excellence, we recognize that every student has a place in our community. Innovative, data-driven academic support is our mission so students can succeed in their studies and in their lives.  

Objectives: 

  1. Make it easier for students to find and use support resources. 
  2. Ensure all students feel included and valued. 
  3. Build a culture of collaboration by working with campus partners to anticipate student needs. 

Learning at RPI extends beyond the classroom. We provide experiential learning and leadership opportunities that help students grow personally and professionally. 

Objectives: 

  1. Give students more voice in campus decision-making. 
  2. Encourage students to embrace nuance, including by collaborating with faculty in bringing academic discussions into residential and co-curricular programs. 
  3. Strengthen experiential learning for all students.  

We expect our students to work hard and to lead balanced, healthy lives. Our comprehensive, integrated approach to well-being supports mind, body, and spirit, and our “one-stop shop” model makes it easier to get help. 

Objectives: 

  1. Create an integrated care model for holistic health.  
  2. Normalize and expand access to mental and physical health resources. 
  3. Ensure students have access to basic life needs. 

We make the most of our resources by telling our story clearly, using assessment data, and building strong partnerships with on-campus and off-campus stakeholders. Our goal is to reduce barriers and create seamless experiences for students. 

Objectives: 

  1. Communicate our impact clearly to stakeholders. 
  2. Strengthen and unify assessment efforts to guide, planning, resource use, and implementation of the strategic plan.  
  3. Partner with campus colleagues, alumni, and donors to enhance student support. 
  4. Reassess programs to provide the most value with available resources. 

Our staff are key to student success. We support their growth, well-being, and collaboration by creating an environment of transparency, professional development, and community. 

Objectives: 

  1. Build a welcoming onboarding program for new staff. 
  2. Provide cross-training and collaboration opportunities. 
  3. Clarify position descriptions and roles across campus to ensure we can best serve our students.  
  4. Foster open dialogue between staff and leadership to build trust as we navigate change as a division.
